Artist Statement (Behind the Work)

"How much of what we experience every day is concrete reality, and how much is simply a filter constructed by our own perception? With 'Reality or Illusion?', I wanted to create an artwork that actively responds to the presence of the viewer.

By layering fine, combed directional arches and contrasting linear textures over fluid pigment shifts, the piece changes as you move across the room. From one angle, the structures appear rigid, sharp, and defined; from another, light catches the combed ridges, causing the canvas to ripple and soften into fluid motion. It is a visual exercise in perspective—a gentle, intriguing reminder that 'truth' often depends entirely on where you choose to stand and how you choose to look."

About the Artwork

"Reality or Illusion?" is an optical, highly detailed fluid painting that plays with human perception, depth, and sensory movement. Created using precise combing and marbling techniques, cascading arches of fiery crimson red, deep burgundy, and dusty rose ripple across fine vertical columns. Under varying light and viewing angles, the piece creates a shimmering, almost three-dimensional movement that shifts as you move around it.

Styling & Space

With its rich crimson tones and hypnotic linear flow, this 24 × 18 cm piece serves as an extraordinary accent painting. It complements contemporary, mid-century modern, Japandi, and moody dark maximalist interiors.
