Artist Statement (Behind the Work)

"Depression is rarely loud; it is a quiet, heavy descent into oneself. It is the feeling of slipping down a spiraling rabbit hole where the outside world grows distant and blurred, leaving you trapped within the intricate, repeating loops of your own thoughts. In 'The Rabbit Hole,' I wanted to give physical form to that internal weight.

The textured silhouette represents the feeling of being encapsulated by one's own mind, while the dense, flowing streams of handwritten micro-script wrapping around the figure mirror the endless internal monologue, doubts, and quiet noise that accompany dark emotional valleys. Yet, by writing those thoughts out onto canvas and transforming them into art, the piece becomes an act of processing—a physical anchor reminding anyone who has ever been down that hole that their struggle is seen, validated, and held with deep empathy."
